About us
KORG IDS (Innovation & Design Studio) is a newly formed transdisciplinary team split between Berlin and Tokyo designing new musical instruments for KORG. We are currently eleven people, and are known to most under our previous alias KORG berlin.
We are actively building a team to design and engineer a completely new series of products.
We are looking for
A Mechanical Engineer to join this team. Responsibilities will include:
_Designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD.
_Building, testing, and iterating on physical prototypes (in-house and with external partners).
_Researching and evaluating materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes.
_End-to-end product development from concept and prototyping through to mass production.
_Collaborating closely with electrical and software engineers to bring prototypes and products to life.
About you
We are looking for an individual with:
_A love for music and musical instruments.
_A commitment to making music creation accessible to all ages.
_Practical experience in mechanical design and product development.
_Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion, die-casting and sheet metal processing.
_Experience in tooling sample evaluation, validation, and optimization, collaborating closely with external suppliers to ensure design intent and manufacturability.
_Experience in DFM to reduce complexity, improve yield, and minimize production costs.
_Hands-on experience building and iterating prototypes (3D printing, machining etc.).
_A structured, proactive way of working with good attention to detail.
_Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across disciplines.
_Motivation and curiosity to acquire skills and knowledge outside of your core competencies.
_A strong sense of project ownership and follow-through.
